Bayview General Medicine Provides Hearing and Vision Screening

The Impact of Hearing Loss

Hearing loss can interfere with the quality of your life, restricting your ability to interact with others, heighten stress and can cause safety issues.

Many people hesitate to seek treatment for hearing loss. Part of the problem is that onset is gradual (and virtually invisible). Another part of the problem is denial.  Hearing loss may be a natural part of the aging process, but many people are uncomfortable acknowledging their hearing loss.

If you believe you may have some hearing loss; don’t hesitate to seek treatment.  The benefits of being able to hear far exceed any social “stigma” you may associate with hearing loss!

Dr. Blanchar can test your hearing and help you find the solutions that best fit your needs.

Vision Testing

Titmus i400 Vision Screener with Membrane Control Panel.

The Titmus i400 Vision Screener Instrument incorporates the unique TITMUS Comfort height adjustment feature that accommodates adults and children of varying heights. This feature ensures that when a patient is seated or standing, they are in a comfortable position for testing. This is essential for efficient and accurate testing.

Vision Testing is done with the Titmus i400 instrument at the natural line of sight - looking straight ahead for distance and downward for near vision. This unique feature enables a progressive lens wearer to adjust the line of sight, so that the optimum portion of the lens is being used to view the test.

The Titmus i400 Vision Screener can perform peripheral vision testing in the horizontal visual field at 85, 70, 55 and Nasal 45 degrees for each eye. It also has a feature to screen vision in night driving conditions.

A variety of vision tests are available for the Titmus i400 instrument to screen for visual acuity, muscle balance (horizontal and vertical phoria), depth perception, color perception, and binocular vision. Note: Aeromedical model slide package meets FAA equipment requirements for aviation certification testing and provides a superior method of administering the aviation medical examination.
