A Pre-placement Examination is very important tool available to employers today. Pre-placement examinations include a comprehensive medical assessment that provides the information you need to be assured that a new employee is capable of performing the job for which he or she has been hired.
A standard exam includes:
- Comprehensive medical history
- Screening of back and upper extremities
- Vision Test
- Vital Signs
- Focused medical examination based on the individual’s job requirements
Bayview General Medicine can tailor pre-employment exams to the employer’s criteria.
Benefits of Pre-Placement Examinations
Pre-Placement Examinations safely introduce employees to the workplace. Dr. Blanchar will communicate the potential employee’s ability to perform essential job functions. Pre-Placement Examinations also offer the benefit of documenting pre-existing conditions should a future Workers' Compensation claim ensue.
Bayview General Medicine understands that an injured employee decreases productivity and increases worker’s compensation costs. Dr. Blanchar will assess several components:
- Before an employee returns to work, he or she receives a work capacity evaluation to compare abilities to the current job description

If you are experiencing discomfort, you should consult your physician at that time. However, yearly examinations may help your physician detect a problem early and recommend treatment options to keep you healthy.
Yearly physical exams vary by age and gender. Women should have a full gynecological exam each year, including pap smear, pelvic and breast exam. Aging women will add a blood lipid profile, EKG, Mammogram and other tests at relevant intervals.
In addition to the basics, men will have a testicular exam, and additional tests as they age. Dr. Blanchar can make sure you have the appropriate tests for your age and health history.
Many schools require physical examinations before children start kindergarten, grade school and high school. Bayview General Medicine recommends yearly school physicals for grade school and high school students.
Dr. Blanchar can complete the physical exam and execute the necessary school forms.
As a baseline, we measure:
- Height
- Weight
- Blood Pressure
- Pulse
- Urine
We discuss with both parents and children any symptoms they may have encountered during physical activity, concentration levels, sleep patterns, and any discomfort they may be encountering.
Bayview General Medicine provides sports physicals for schools, teams and individual athletes.
A Pre-Participation Physical Examination (PPE) at the beginning of your sports season is very important to ensure you or your child’s safety while participating in sports.
The exam is designed to assess any possible risks to you or your child’s participation in a sport.
Many schools and teams require a PPE prior to participation; regardless of the school or teams requirements, Dr. Blanchar recommends that athletes undergo a physical examination prior to participating in any sport.
Many summer camps and sports camps require a physical exam before children and adults can attend.
Bayview General Medicine recommends a physical exam for children and teens prior to attending camp.
Although most camps have a nurse or emergency care provider on staff, your children are out of your care and sight while they are at camp. A camp physical will give you as a parent, peace of mind, knowing that Dr Blanchar has conducted a thorough evaluation of your child’s health.
A camp physical may also help prevent injuries and will give the camp healthcare staff a good overview of your child’s health.
