Skin Care Q & A
What are the options in skin care?
There are many treatments and products on the market today that target:
- Dark spots
- General skin care
- Eyelash growth
At Bayview General Medicine & Aesthetics, Dr. Blanchar culls through the different options to bring you the most advanced and effective skin care treatments and products available, which includes:
What is a HydraFacial?
One of the easiest and most popular treatments is the HydraFacial, a professional facial system that uses the patented Vortex Fusion® Technology, along with medical grade serums and peels. The HydraFacial procedure is a 30-minute treatment that:
- Removes dirt, oil, makeup
- Lightens unwanted pigment
- Reduces redness
- Refines pores
- Softens skin
This procedure includes cleansing, peeling, extractions, hydration, and calming. Most patients come in monthly for maintenance or before an event.
What skin care products are available?
Bayview General Medicine & Aesthetics offers two lines of products: SkinMedica and Avene.
SkinMedica products are only available through authorized physicians, like Dr. Blanchar, and work with the skin’s natural healing properties. The products are designed to:
- Moisturize and hydrate
Avene is a full range of skin care products using Avene Thermal Spring Water. All the products are formulated in line with pharmaceutical standards, and are hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic to address the needs of sensitive skin. The products are available at Dr. Blanchar’s office and range from exfoliators to specialized serums and creams.
What is the treatment for acne?
Dr. Blanchar prescribes Glytone acne treatment products to target acne-prone skin. The overproduction of oil and acne-related bacteria are managed by Glytone, which has the following ingredients:
- Salicylic acid to exfoliate the skin's surface to help decrease acne-causing bacteria
- Benzoyl Peroxide to help control surface oil and neutralize Propionibacterium Acnes (P. Acnes) on the skin
Glytone Acne skin care products manage acne at any stage in life. As a bonus, Glytone also decreases fine lines from aging if you use the products on a regular basis.
How can I get fuller eyelashes?
If you have inadequate or sparse eyelashes, Dr. Blanchar has had great success using Latisse, which is an FDA-approved treatment to grow eyelashes. Latisse is a prescribed topical treatment that you use daily. Most results are seen in three to four months.
