What Skin Issues Can Potenza® Microneedling Treat?

What Skin Issues Can Potenza® Microneedling Treat?

Many of the skin issues that frustrate you can be treated by creating controlled damage to stimulate the growth of new tissue. While effective, many of the methods used for this require a week or two of downtime for your skin to recover.

Dr. Richard Blanchar and the team at Bayview General Medicine in Fort Lauderdale recommend treatment with the Potenza® Microneedling machine from CynoSure® Lutronic®. The combination of radiofrequency (RF) energy and microneedling stimulation results in an effective skin treatment with minimal downtime.

The range of skin improvements offered by Potenza is equally impressive. This month, we take a look at this exciting skin rejuvenation procedure and the best applications for your medical aesthetic goals.

Microneedling with Potenza

Conventional microneedling uses a tool that creates micro punctures in your skin’s outer layer with the goal of triggering the growth of new collagen tissue in the dermis, the middle skin layer.

Collagen is the protein that supports and moisturizes the epidermis, the outer layer of your skin. While your body starts losing collagen as you age, you still retain the ability to manufacture new tissue.

However, it takes an injury to jumpstart this reaction. When you have a minor cut, you know that your body heals over imperceptibly. New collagen is part of this process.

The tiny punctures created by microneedling trigger new tissue growth, a process known as collagen induction therapy. Potenza boosts the results by adding RF energy.

Similar to the radiation in a microwave oven, RF energy gets absorbed by existing collagen, gently raising its temperature. This warming action boosts the collagen response without additional damage to the epidermis.

Collagen induction continues in the days and weeks after your treatment, adding volume and hydration to your skin.

The skin issues that Potenza microneedling treats

With this turnover of collagen tissue, the appearance of certain skin conditions starts to fade. Many of these dwell in the collagen layer, so the tissue replacement improves your skin’s overall appearance and texture.

Skin concerns treated with Potenza include:

Potenza microneedling can also help patients with alopecia areata, a form of hair loss caused by an autoimmune disorder. Excessive sweating, called hyperhidrosis, may also respond well to microneedling.

We can also include custom-chosen topical serums for your skin. Coupling these with a Potenza microneedling session maximizes skin absorption.

Instead of weeks of recovery time associated with some collagen-stimulating treatments, recovery from a Potenza session is measured in hours and days. Individual results vary between patients, depending on areas treated as well as custom settings used with Potenza.
