Am I a Good Candidate for Body Sculpting?

Am I a Good Candidate for Body Sculpting?

As you get older, your body may change the way it stores extra energy in the form of fat. This is often in response to changing hormone levels in both women and men, and it can be particularly frustrating when you’ve put in the effort to achieve a healthy body weight. Some fat stores resist every diet and exercise attempt at reshaping.

You now have options when it comes to noninvasive body contouring. For decades, your only option was likely liposuction, a surgical procedure with long recovery times and scars. Today, though, you have SculpSure® body contouring, a laser-based system that gently warms and melts away stubborn and unwanted body fat.

Our team at Bayview General Medicine takes your body-sculpting goals seriously, and as SculpSure specialists, we’re proud to offer our patients the leading laser lipolysis platform to help you achieve the body you desire. Contact us to find out if you’re a good candidate for body sculpting.

How SculpSure works

Your circulatory system does an amazing job at keeping your body within a well-controlled temperature range. Without this heating and cooling system, much of the tissue in your body could be compromised.

Fat cells, for example, reach a coagulation point that’s only a few degrees above normal body temperatures. When cells reach this point, your brain considers the cells damaged and marks them for removal through normal body waste channels.

The four applicators of the SculpSure system effectively treat fat stores virtually anywhere on your body, and most importantly, in the typical problem areas for hard-to-lose bulges, like the abdomen, flanks, and thighs. In 25 minutes, you start the fat-melting process that destroys up to 24% of treated fat tissue. You’ll see improvements over the next 6 to 12 weeks.

Good candidates for body sculpting

It’s important to note that SculpSure is not a weight-loss method. While you may see minor reductions in weight as fat is lost, treatments are meant to shape the fat that sits between muscle and skin, forming bulges that can’t be tamed through workouts or, especially in tough places like under your chin, for which there aren’t effective exercises.

The ideal candidate for body sculpting with SculpSure is at or near their ideal body weight, but stuck with subdermal fat pockets that resist diet and exercise. As an adult, the number of fat cells in your body remains constant, changing only in size as you gain or lose weight.

Fat cells treated with SculpSure are gone — for good. Bulges and rolls on your belly, love handles, back and thigh fat, and double chins disappear, too. These benefits come with one or more 25-minute treatments that feel similar to a hot stone massage, according to some patients. There’s no recovery time needed. You can schedule a SculpSure session in the middle of your day and return to your normal activities immediately.
